You'll find the base engine automatically equipped on the Base, XLT, and Limited Ford Explorer models, while the upper-level trims, King Ranch, Platinum, and ST, get the upgraded 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. The Ford Explorer can tow up to 5,600 pounds with the right engine selection and tow package, which is great for small trailers, recreational vehicles, and additional cargo capacity.
